MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES OFFERED VIRTUALLY IN WASHINGTON & ARIZONA

 Anna Cimburek

My story begins in 2011 when my dad was diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer. He died just 7 weeks after diagnosis. After his death, I searched high and low for books, blogs, and any other resources that would make sense of my grief. I pulled bits and pieces from various grief resources, but never found anything that spoke directly to me - a 27 year old, just getting started in life, learning how to navigate life’s challenges without the person who gave me meaning. Through my own grief therapy, I began to find meaning and support in the most unlikely of places.

In 2017, I set out on my journey to be a social worker. Our family had an amazing hospice social worker when my dad was inpatient at Bailey-Boushay House in Seattle, Washington. I knew I wanted to give other families the kind of compassion our family had received. During my time as a Master’s degree student, I learned the art of having end of life conversations, being present with patients and families during the dying process, and supporting friends and loved ones after their loss. As a palliative care and hospice social worker, I had the great honor of being present with people during the most challenging times of their lives.

In 2024, I transitioned from social worker to grief therapist. I provide a supportive environment where you can reflect on your loss, share memories of your loved one, and process the full range of emotions that accompany bereavement—without judgment or pressure to “move on.” In a society that often avoids conversations about death and loss, I welcome and encourage these conversations. There is no right way to grieve, no timeline to follow, and no pressure. My role is to walk alongside you with care, respect, and curiosity as you navigate your own unique healing journey.

Clinical Social Work/Therapist, MSW, LSWAIC, LMSW

When I’m not working in my office, surrounded by plants and books, I’m baking, cooking, traveling, or thrifting. I have 2 dogs and 2 cats, who sometimes spend their time with me in my office. I have 4 children who keep me busy watching movies, playing Legos, and discovering new parks. We live in Arizona, but Washington state will always be home.
